The ways of the world
If I'm steady enough of the ways of the world,
I will have the strength to never waste a day,
As I refuse to stand still.
I solemnly swear the regain my faith in myself that has been lost,
Too far long ago.
If I'm steady enough, enough people will dislike me to know I did it right.
Let me learn it at the hard way,
And cut it close sometimes.
I will have some kids and teach them the ways of the world,
Suffering and smiling,
That we are all the same,
Each and every passing day.
The love I have will always be something my friends yearn,
And let them be reminded by the paintings of the ways of the world.
My memories were never cheap or easily earned,
My memory still tends to wipe itself clean.
If I'm steady enough I will understand losing someone close.
I reckon I'd be steady enough if I only die on hills that are close to my heart,
And I will drop the knife prodding at my chest.
If I'm steady enough I will get thru hard things,
And they will make me gentle to the ways of the world.
I will have the courage to leave and go wherever my beating hearths telling me to go.
If I'm steady enough I will get high without the risk of tomorrow,
And I will make it exactly to where I'm taking this breath now.
And if im steady enough I will remember the shaky things youth made us see.
