You are always home!
-You are always home
-Don't you know there is whole world out there to see?
-Let's go party!
Let's go have some fun!
-Do all the thing you wish to have done when you are older!
I have spent my life running,
Trying to out run the terror, my childhood house would bring
I spent my life in fight, flight, mostly freeze
I don't want to run anymore
I only want peace
I'm building this home for me,
Where breathing is not a necessity,
It is a possibility.
A home where if I sleep in,
No one calls me worthless, or weak
A home where rest is like,
A new breath of air,
Not a bullet aimed at your face.
A home where the sound of footsteps doesn't equal danger,
Or a few dishes in the sink, isn't that big of a deal.
A home where doors don't slam,
Where grenades don't rupture your door
Where quiet isn't suspicious
Where the softness of my blanket doesn't have to dry up my blood from all the yesterdays
Instead, it can bring me to sleep
Where sleep can reprogram my alarmed brain
There is no yelling here,
Only safeness.
